Permanent Eyebrow Makeup

Mirror 104x150 Permanent Eyebrow MakeupIf you want to avoid the task of spending so much time applying your make up in front of the mirror every morning, permanent make up can be an excellent solution.  It has grown in popularity in the western world in these last few years, but it has actually been practised for hundreds of years in Mediterranean countries, and in Africa.

This guide will give you information on what’s involved with permanent eyebrow application, and what you can expect during and after the procedure.

Permanent make up is alternatively known as cosmetic tattooing, semi-permanent makeup and micropigmentation.  You can find these services in specialised beauty clinics.  It’s not only suitable for people who want to avoid the 10 or 15 minutes in front of the mirror every morning, but also those who may be having difficulty in applying their makeup.  Many glasses wearers have trouble trying to get their eyebrows on straight.

If you have oily skin, permanent makeup can be the answer to the constant re-application required during the day.  It will also benefit those who sweat a lot, such as athletes or swimmers.

Some people have very little natural brows due to their fair colouring, others have over plucked in the past and their eyebrows failed to grow back properly.  Some medical treatments such as chemotherapy can cause the eyebrows to fall out, or scarring can be the cause of misshapen eyebrows.

Permanent makeup is applied using a specialist machine with sterile needles to help to implant hypoallergenic colour pigments into the deeper layers of the skin.

This is a highly skilled job.  The results aren’t quite permanent, the normal life expectancy of your makeup is anywhere between four to ten years.   Additionally, the colour can fade, but this can be easily corrected with a touch up every couple of years.

The brow area is not as sensitive as other areas, so pain and discomfort associated with this treatment is minimal.  There might be some swelling straight after the procedure, but this disappears after about 4 days, a week at most.

Make sure you find an experienced practitioner (dermagraphic artist) if you are considering this procedure.  You may need to check out several practitioners before you find the right one for you.  During your consultation be sure you ask for before and after pictures to help you to decide if this is the person for you.

Make sure there are no hidden costs.  Usually there can be a ‘balancing’ treatment needed after about four weeks.  Find out if this balancing treatment is included in the up-front price.  Permanent eyebrow makeup can give you freedom from constant make-up touch-ups, but do be careful in your choice of dermagraphic artist.
